How to identify the object subject and verb in Afrikaans

Onderwerp (Subject)

Die onderwerp (subject) is die ding wat die aksie doen in die sin. Elke sin moet ʼn onderwerp (subject) hê.

The subject is the thing that does the action in the sentence. Every sentence must have a subject.

Ek eet.

Jan skop die bal.

Sy is lelik

Werkwoord (Verb)

Die werkwoord (verb) is die aksie wat in die sin gebeur. Elke sin moet tenminste een werkwoord hê.

The verb is the action that takes place in the sentence. Every sentence must have at least one verb.

Ek slaap lekker.

Piet is honger.

Hy is stadig en sy is vinnig.

Voorwerp (Object)

Die voorwerp (object) is die ding waarop die aksie gedoen word. ʼn Sin hoef nie ʼn voorwerp (object) te hê nie, maar dit kan meer as een hê.

The object is the thing on which the action is done. A sentence doesn’t have toe have an object, but it can have more than one object.

Ek eet ʼn appel en ʼn ei.

Piet is hier.

Sy skop die bal.
